Snowden Street Re-Clad Project

Breathing New Life Into a Family Home

The Snowden Street renovation gave a tired, leaking home a new lease on life, and ensured it stands strong for generations to come.

Project Duration: January 2025 – August 2025
Scope: Re-clad, re-roof, triple-glazed joinery, and extensions

Design Vision

Functionality was front of mind for these owners, however, in conversations with the TUIT team a clear design vision also became apparent. The desire was for a home that combined warmth, texture and durability. A natural colour palette was chosen featuring biscotti, lichen, and copper tones paired with plaster and bamboo, providing a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic.

Space Planning & Extensions

Each space in the house was designed to work hard, look effortless and feel cohesive as both the front and rear extensions were overhauled.

Exterior Transformation

To enhance warmth and modernise the look, we restored the solid tawa flooring, added copper fittings, and selected clean, white accents. The combination created a warm, inviting, and homely atmosphere.

Challenges and Solutions

What was a dated and weathered property was completely transformed with a full re-clad, new roof, and premium triple-glazed tilt-and-fold joinery. A new entry way was redesigned to offer a strong street presence and allow for internal access to the downstairs level. Additionally, an extension was added to include an alfresco area over the main deck which created the ultimate outdoor living zone — perfect for summer evenings and family gatherings.

Project Management & Live-in Build

With more than 15 subcontractors involved, TUIT managed every trade, acting as the single point of contact to ensure consistent quality and coordination across the entire build. This was no small feat, especially given the owners lived in the home throughout the whole construction period which meant spaces needed to be kept safe and accessible throughout the build.

Communication, Timeline & Budget

Regular on-site meetings and open communication became key to keeping this project on track — as well as helping manage any challenges that arose. So, while material delays and design tweaks pushed timelines slightly, the consistent check-ins, and flexible and collaborative approach meant that plans could be adapted easily. Additionally, a 15 percent contingency allowance — which had been built into the budget early on — meant there were no financial surprises when unexpected costs arose.

Project Outcome

The Snowden Street home has been completely reimagined — weather-tight, warm, and filled with thoughtful design details. Every detail was built to last and it’s a project that reflects everything TUIT stands for: craftsmanship, clear communication, and a commitment to quality from concept to completion.
